Hervey Bay Hospital
Although it has not received much airtime on the national news programmes the Davies health inquiry is certainly delving into the problems that were plaguing the Hervey Bay hospital at the same time as Bundaberg hospital was in crisis.
The latest revelations show that the director of the orthopedic department of Hervey Bay hospital was actually at home in Brisbane when he should have been at work here.
Earlier in the inquiry he submitted a written statement that indicated that he was in hospital being treated for depression in December last year. He has now been forced to admit that he had not been admitted to hospital at all.
At the inquiry he was also forced to admit that the junior doctors in the orthapedic unit were left unsupervised for up to 20 days a month.
