Bird Flu
Well the Gossip had to mention it sooner or later. It’s sitting up there in Indonesia and now it’s spreading to Europe. The slaughter of thousands of domestic birds in Turkey and Romania began on Sunday after both countries confirmed their first cases of the disease on Friday and Saturday.
In Turkey 1800 birds died from the disease on a turkey farm (absolutely no pun intended) while in Romania 3 domestic ducks and a wild swan are thought to have contracted the disease.
While it still remains in the bird population in those countries it can spread quite easily to humans and the world is holding its breath to see if it will mutate into something that will spread among humans.
