Hervey Bay Preselection
Yesterday we reported on the problems that the Liberal and National Parties were having since they agreed to present joint candidates to each electorate and so avoid three-way contents.
The preselection for Hervey Bay was to be a test of their resolve to work together but it seems that they are not yet ready to test that resolve. It has now been announced that the preselection which was set for this coming weekend has been postponed.
The liberal candidate is ‘disappointed’ and the National Party candidate is already suggesting that a three-way contest come election time is a possibility.
So much for political unity among the conservatives in this state.
