Credit Card Scam Hitting Small Retailers
Today’s Courier Mail is reporting on a credit card scam that has been hitting on small retailers.
Police are looking for two men who have been using unwitting backpackers to sell corporate clothing to small retailers. At one point in the sales pitch the prospective clients of the bogus business are asked to make a small payment via eftpos.
Everything looks legitimate but the ‘eftpos’ machine is actually a card reader that takes all the data from the retailer’s card.
