Tropical Cyclone Wati
Our previous report that Tropical Cyclone Wati was likely to blow itself out before it reached the coast seems to have been a little premature.
At 4am this morning Wati was listed as a Category 3 cyclone approximately 700 kms east of Innisfail. Since 4pm yesterday it had turned north-west. It is currently expected to remain slow moving in offshore waters for the rest of the week.
The Weather Bureau is still forecasting strong gale force winds between Bowen and Frasher Island and large seas will develop along open waters off the southern and central coasts.
