Hervey Bay Water Now Among Australia’s Safest
… but it still tastes like crud. At least in our neck of the Hervey Bay woods it does despite the fact that the Local Government Minister launched a new $8.8 million water treatment plant.
The new plant has the capacity to treat up to 20 million litres of raw water a day and supply it to about 20,000 households in the Hervey Bay region.
The new plant uses a triple filtration system where the raw water will pass through an initial filter which removes solids and discolouring, before being treated with ozone to kill any organisms and chemicals.
It will then pass through a carbon filter which makes the water crystal-clear, odourless and pleasant-tasting.
The plant’s three-stage water treatment system is said to be an Australian first.
Hmmm … a rather unscientific test has just been conducted here in the Gossip headquarters. It consisted of me walking into the bathroom and turning the cold water tap on and that produced a lot of water with some rather nasty black gunk in it so what happened to this wonderful treatment plant Ted?

Well we have built a new house here and used Travertine porcelain tiles in our ensuite, and we keep getting a reddish brown stain on the bottom of the ensuite which has to be caused by the chemicals in our water reacting with the natural qualities of the porcelain tile. The tiles have been laid professionally and sealed not once but twice, and still this discolouration appears.
Is there anyone who could assist with this
