New Laws Come Into Force From Today
A number of new laws will come into force in Queensland from today and they will have an impact here in Hervey Bay.
Anti-Smoking Laws
Tougher anti-smoking laws will prohibit smoking inside all Queensland licensed premises and in outdoor areas where food or alcohol is served.
3am Lockout
All late-night trading venues across the State will be required to comply with the 3am lockout, which prohibits patron admission after 3am.
Anti-Hooning Laws
As an extension of the existing anti-hooning legislation for motorists introduced three years ago, new trail bike anti-hooning laws will come into effect for trail bike riders - with repeat offenders risking confiscation of their trail bike.
Protection has also been put inplace for the disabled in the community and tougher child employment laws have also come into force.
