I can understand where she's coming from - there were definitely places where I would have liked to stay longer - but if you're not into the the four-wheel drive scene and don't have the experience then the guided tours are definitely the way to go. I remember the fellow telling me, "this is basically the same as the one day tour, but we just extend it to three days" We were lucky with the weather too - so it really does make the trip worth while!
