Hervey Bay and the Tsunami That Didn’t Come

It was interesting to wander around Hervey Bay and listen to the differing opinions that people have. Of course the biggest division was over whether the tsunami was a real threat or not and it was surprising to see so many people suggest that it was never going to happen even before we had the all-clear.

Fortunately it didn’t come but what if it had. Were we really prepared for something like this? Was enough done by the authorities in the time available to notify those in the most danger?

She who must be obeyed was manning our desk down on the Esplanade at Urangan and the only way she knew what was going on was by getting regular updates from me. Why weren’t people down at Urangan warned?

While some councils along the coast put their emergency plans into action what happened here in Hervey Bay?
