Hervey Bay – How Others See Us
I heard a little rumour last week that one of the major land developers currently here in Hervey Bay had just hired a new marketing team to further develop their advertising. It seems that this team of advertising gurus sees Hervey Bay as a place for yuppies and so has redesigned all the promotional material for their client so that it will be more attractive to yuppies.
Hervey Bay a place for yuppies? And if it was would yuppies want to buy house and land packages out along Old Maryborough Road?
In the defence of these advertising people it seems that Hervey Bay is changing and we’re beginning to lose the image of the retirement capital of Australia. That’s happening because more young families are moving here to set up small businesses … but these young families aren’t exactly the yuppy type.
The Sunday Mail ran an interesting piece about Hervey Bay last Sunday. It was entitled Families Flock to Paradise and it’s well worth reading because it will give you a good idea of where Hervey Bay is headed in the years ahead.
