Hello Humble Pie - Thanks for posting.

I'm not sure how Aquavue got into this discussion but the fact is that the comments were closed simply because I forgot to open them. But now that you mention it they'll stay closed - I wouldn't want to be seen to be giving in to the troll who probably fed you this information now would I?

As for 'precious hits' ... well you're not the only one who doesn't understand why this website is in existence. The people who come to this site can go on to wherever they like - what they do here is totally irrelevant to the goals I have had for this website for the last year or more.

I do believe that the Circus had actually left town before Strewth appeared - well all but the horses and camels had left - they got an extra seaside holiday thanks to the Equine Flu that's sweeping the country and seeing that they were only allowed to move late last week they were obviously here when Strewth launched.

The idea that Strewth is somehow connected to me is entirely delusional - I don't move in the august circles that the author of that blog obviously does and nor do I wish to.

So sorry to disappoint you but there are no conspiracies to be seen here - just a simple Webmaster chasing the elusive Google spider for our clients.

Have a nice day - and if you ever do get to visit Hervey Bay be sure to let me know and I'll buy you a beer :)

Why are comments closed on other posts but not this one? In particular, why are comments closed on "Jet Ski Hoons in Hervey Bay" - I guess you wouldn't want to upset Aquavue if someone posted in support of the Jet Skiers?

And in relation to the recent articles like this one relating to the "Strewth" WordPress blog, what do you have to gain by promoting the site? Surely you wouldn't want to be directing precious hits to a website which is essentially in opposition to you? Unless, of course, it isn't in opposition to you.

Is it not a coincidence that the circus appears in town again just when Strewth appears?

Thanks Clive. Speaking personally. Council responsibility, to my knowledge, refers to all the things that a development must comply with that are directly a Council responsibility to oversee. So while Council will condition a building to comply with things that Council has control over, a building must comply with other things that are beyond Council control or responsibility. So the requirements to pass a Fire Safety Inspection are not specifically a Council requirement. Council is not responsible for a Fire Safety approval the Fire Dept is.
I personally expect any architect designing a building as large as Peppers or the new Woolies would have a good knowledge of all the legislative requirements that must be met.
So in this instance I am personally satisfied that Council has no case to answer. Sue

Patricia is partly right about the water tank at Bunnings.
That tank is a fire sprinkler supply & is there because of the size of the building & the fire load contained in the building..
Beside the tank is a pump hous containing a huge diesel pump, My estimate of the duty required of that pump would be in the vicinity of 40litres per second @ 650Kpa Which most water mains in Australia would not be able to supply,
The tank would be sized (allowing for inflow from the mains) to give 3hours
supply to the fire sprinklers..
Most developments do not need this quantity if water for fire fighting as the buildings are divided into fire compartments ..

Thanks for joining the conversation Clive - it's good to have a comment from someone who knows what they're talking about and to have a reference.

It's too easy to use terms like "accepted guidelines" and "lesser standards" and sound credible at the expense of the facts.

WRONG !!!! Strewth Peppers Resort passed the fire flows & pressure requirements of the QFRS & A,S. 2419 the Australian Standard for Fire Hydrant Installations...
I am the Hydraulic Consultant that designed all the plumbing & fire hydrant installation for that building .. The installation was testd & passed by the
QFRS testing officer from Maryborough & I can tell you he would not have passed anything that was slightly wrong,, (He is the toughest in the business )

Next time you pass by Bunnings, look to the left of the building and you'll see a very large water tank. This used to be a requirement when water pressure/water flow could not reach the acceptable guidelines. This is always kept full, and is used to supplement the main water supply in the event of a fire. More recent developments (Peppers and Eli Waters for example) would have in the past been required to supply the same tank.
