There is no shortage of water falling from Queensland skies but there is dearth of logical common sense exhibited in the management of this plentiful resource.
When it rains in Point Vernon beautiful fresh water just runs off the roof and down the street into the bay.

Dan,

I agree with some of your comments eg. “a complete inability to manage the entire region as one”. Yes, parochialism is a problem and yes many councillors try to appease the majority of voters so as to ensure re-election.

However, growth without increased jobs is madness. I would support balanced growth, but when have we had it in this region?

Jon the question of development and whether we have enough water to cope with any more major developments has been discussed here as far back as when Peppers opened.

It’s a question that worries a lot of residents and one that the Hervey Bay Council of the time wasn’t much interested in talking about. Somehow I think that the Fraser Coast Regional Council is even less interested in considering it now even though it’s something they should be looking at very carefully.

Perhaps they hope that the Water Park will take our minds off the fact that there’s a growing demand for water but the it’s a resource that’s limited.

Many of us don’t like the idea of capping population, but water is one of lifes essentials. A lack of water and a depressed economy suggest now is a good time to slow growth in our area.
