The lack of gas supplies in Hervey Bay is really starting to bite for some business … and it’s turning into a real hassle for those with homes connected to the gas supply.
Unfortunately the resumption of gas supplies is not quite as definite as some local news sources are suggesting.
The official press release issued by the gas company last night indicates that the company will TRY to establish a temporary connection by inserting a plastic pipe into the damaged metal pipe.
IF this solution works then gas supplies should be back on for CRITICAL customers by Wednesday.
If this temporary fix is not successful then the inference is that we’re just going to have to wait till the main pipe is repaired and, at the moment, no one is saying when that repair will be completed although there may be some indication by Tuesday afternoon.
