Work has commenced on a community garden in Hervey Bay.
It’s located at the Halcro Street Community Centre in Point Vernon and when complete it will feature communal garden beds, BBQs, workshops and a nursery as well as activity areas for local arts and crafts groups.
Councillor Robert Garland … the Councillor for Community Health, Education and Training … says that the new community garden will be a place where people can grow fruit, vegetables and herbs as well as being a place to socialize and unwind.
So if you want to grow a few vegetables of your own the community garden in Hervey Bay is open to anyone … not just the residents of Point Vernon. If you would like to be involved all you have to do is email the Council’s Live Life Healthy Team at firstname.lastname@example.org
Funding for the project comes from the Federal Government Healthy Communities Initiative.
