… is finding people who moved here from the same place you did.
She Who Must Be Obeyed decided that I needed some R&R today so she dragged me out of the house and forced me to drive to Toogoom for a very pleasant lunch at Goody’s.
Sitting at the next table was a couple who have just moved to Hervey Bay from Hobart. It was great to see that we’re not the only ones from that miserably cold place who think that Hervey Bay is the only place to be.
If you haven’t tried Goody’s before then you really should do so. It’s a short drive from Hervey Bay on a good road. The food is good and dining right on the water’s edge is magic.
You should be prepared though - some regular guests have their preferred seats and are quite happy for you to shout them dinner.

Hervey Bay Council reports that the beach at Toogoom was the only area to suffer damage during yesterday’s king tides. Despite work to protect the beach there was sand erosion and water came to within a few metres of houses along the beach front.
At Urangan water was breaking over the wall along The Esplanade but no real damage was done to the beach.
King tides are expected later this month and with them will come even more erosion along Toogoom Beach.
The Hervey Bay Council plans to have around 3000 cubic metres of sand in place in the worst affected areas before the big tides arrive.
This is just an interim measure while Council waits for approval from the State government of plans to build a seawall along part of the beach that adjoins a number of houses.
